Self Love Meditation

Light always shines upon the dark moments. The experience that follows helped me shine the light in. I pray it also helps you.

A memory, sparked off in the early hours, like a lightning flash upon the heart. Grief wells up. I never got to say goodbye, I don’t really know why we stopped being in touch, I loved you, and cared deeply. I wish I could have resolved things better with you, but we are no longer in contact, not for years. I feel this has come up again to at last be healed.

This sadness wants to be held. Alone, I look within, and breathe, seeking comfort. This feeling, where do I feel it in my body? I place my hand tenderly on my heart, I gather this piece of hurt up into my heart, and hold it close, lovingly.

It’s ok, sweetheart. I love you, I’m sorry you are hurting, and I let you hurt for so long, forgive me. I am here for you now, and am listening to you.

I love you, and I am here for you. You are safe, you can yield to my love. After a while my breathing and my fast beating heart slows and calms.

Cosily held in my heart’s embrace, the hurt softens and melts.

I am left with soft tender love, and gentle peace.

Later, when my loving, kind partner came in and hugged me, I felt lighter, more yielding and gentler than before the heart healing.

May you gather the hurt feelings into your heart and nurture and love them, and come home to love for yourself, and to peace.

If you find it hard to do this on your own, or feel overwhelmed by emotion, talk to someone you trust; there is always a kind friend, counsellor or healer to listen to you when you ask for help. Let’s look after each other and ourselves, and share love and kindness, caring and listening deeply.
